Drain tile and sump pump systems are the most popular in the industry, for good reason: they work. Interior drain tile is the best way to keep a basement dry. You don’t need to dig around your home, which can be expensive. Water can still get in even if you have outside barriers. Interior drain tile is not only more effective but also more affordable than outside options.
At LTC, we customize each project to fit your property’s needs. A typical drain tile installation involves:
- Removing 8 to 18 inches of the basement floor near the outer walls. This can be hard work, but we only do what’s necessary.
- Digging a trench along the footing and sloping it to a 24-inch deep, 18-inch wide sump basin.
- Placing a perforated pipe in the trench to collect water and ensure it flows freely. For block foundations, we add weep holes to help water escape and reduce wall staining.
- Using a liner along the footing and wall to keep concrete away from the drain tile.
- Covering the drain tile with rocks and a vapor barrier before pouring concrete to match the existing floor.
The project duration depends on the size and scope but usually takes 1 to 3 days. We’ll work with you to find a suitable time that minimizes disruption for your property.
